President Obama’s Amnesty Plan Shut Down by Courts

The Supreme Court in June deadlocked 4-4 on President Obama’s executive overreaches on immigration. The vote means that a federal court ruling, which declared Mr. Obama’s moves illegal, will remain in effect. It is almost certain that if the Senate had allowed Merrick Garland (Obama’s choice to replace the late Antonin Scalia) to be confirmed, the Supreme Court would have allowed the president’s illegal rule-by-fiat on immigration to continue. Senate majority leader Mitch McConnell’s insistence that the Supreme Court vacancy be filled after America has chosen its new president in November, rather than by a lame duck president, has proved vital.

Sherriff Called on a Seven-Year-Old Christian

A public school in California was so threatened by the Bible verses a seven-year-old student shared with classmates that the principle called in the sheriff to put an end to it. The mother of a first grader packed a Bible verse in his lunch each day, and soon his friends began asking him to share the verses with them. This was too much for Desert Rose Elementary School’s principal, Melanie Pagliaro who sent a Los Angeles County deputy sheriff to the child’s home to order him and his mother to stop because the boy was supposedly “violating the separation of church and state.” It is frightening to know that our public schools are being run by officials who do not even grasp basic constitutional principles, such as the simple truth that the First Amendment protects even seven-year-old citizens from the government—not government from the actions of citizens.

California Churches Forced to Support Abortion on Demand

President Obama’s Department of Health and Human Services ruled to allow the California Department of Managed Health Care to continue forcing all employers—including churches—to cover abortions in their health care plans as “basic health care.” The ruling, in response to a lawsuit brought by pro-life Christians, is in direct violation of the Weldon Amendment. This amendment has been incorporated into all HHS appropriations since 2005 to protect the conscience rights of individuals and entities. Senior Counsel Casey Mattox of the Alliance Defending Freedom, which was co-founded by Dr. D. James Kennedy, pursued the case in court, saying, “The Obama Administration’s refusal to enforce this law continues its pattern of enforcing laws it wants to enforce, refusing to enforce others, and inventing new interpretations of others out of whole cloth.” This, as much as President Obama’s frequent unconstitutional and illegal executive orders, is yet another example of his executive overreach.

None Dare Call It Islam

On June 12, 49 people were killed and more than 50 injured at a nightclub in Orlando in the worst terrorist attack on American soil since 9/11. The attacker, Omar Mateen, who had twice been investigated by the FBI for terrorist sympathies, pledged allegiance to ISIS in a phone call to an emergency operator during the attack. This led many in the media and on the left to place the blame squarely on . . . Christians, since the attack occurred in a gay nightclub. President Obama continued his habit of refusing to acknowledge radical Islamic terrorism was at play, and his FBI (which failed to stop Mateen despite their two investigations) released a transcript of Mateen’s 911 call—with all the Islamic references edited out. Adhering to former chief of staff Rahm Emmanuel’s dictum, “Never let a crisis go to waste,” President Obama wasted no time in taking to the airwaves to call for more gun control as ISIS continues its rampage across the globe.

Call Me What I Say I Am—Unless I’m Muslim

In a jaw-dropping turn of events after Islamic terrorist Omar Mateen’s carnage in Orlando, many “progressives” took to the internet and airwaves to attribute motives for Mateen’s attack. Some alleged he was a closeted, self-hating homosexual; others that he somehow had been spurred on by an “atmosphere of hate” caused by opposition to same-sex marriage. All this despite the fact that Mateen explicitly claimed his attack was motivated by Islamic ideology in support of ISIS. According to the left, if a man one day decides to identify himself as a woman, every person in America should immediately bow to his self-identification despite the lack of biological evidence to support it. But if a man self-identifies as an Islamic jihadist while committing an act of terror, we must never accept that identification, no matter how much evidence supports it. This is nothing less than intellectual and moral suicide.
