What was so obvious to our founders and the following generations, but lost on much of America today, is that Jesus was born to set us free. By his birth and his death on the cross, he paid for our sins, reconciled us to God and proclaimed Liberty.
Our founders acted on the Biblical truth that, “Where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty,” and took seriously the command, “Stand fast therefore in the liberty by which Christ has made us free”
That’s why the Founders could write in the Declaration of Independence that “all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their creator with certain inalienable rights.”
