Among our many colloquial expressions, one is almost universally understood. When we say we are “setting our sights” on something, it means we are “aiming” our efforts to be, to do, or to achieve something. Setting our sights on ultimate things is crucial. Otherwise we become like the fellow in the story who spent his whole life climbing the ladder of success only to fund that the ladder was leaning against the wrong wall.
