What Is the Trinity?

Scripture: Acts 5:1-6

The Trinity is a great Christian doctrine, “but whenever you run into a cultist,” observes Dr. Kennedy, “cultists believe that the Holy Spirit is a thing.”  Is the Holy Spirit a thing, or is He a person?

The Trinity is perhaps the deepest, most foundational doctrine of the Christian faith. As we contemplate the Trinity, we walk carefully on sacred ground as we approach the living God. The basics of the Trinity are rather simple: there is one God, existing in three persons.

The Father is fully God, the Son is fully God, and the Holy Spirit is fully God. But the father is not the Son or the Spirit. The Son is not the Father or the Spirit. And the Spirit is not the Father or the Son. And each of the members of the Godhead are essential to your (and my) salvation.

Simple—and yet virtually beyond comprehension, and we will spend eternity surveying each aspect of this amazing God.
