What is the real heart of the drive for the legalization of same-sex marriage? The homosexual lobby would have us believe it is all about “equality.” They argue they will only gain equal rights when the state and everyone else puts a stamp of approval on their fake “marriages.”
What is the real heart of the drive for the legalization of same-sex marriage? The homosexual lobby would have us believe it is all about “equality.” They argue they will only gain equal rights when the state and everyone else puts a stamp of approval on their fake “marriages.”
Yet, as Dr. D. James Kennedy clearly saw, the drive for the legalization of same-sex marriage is not really about “equal rights.” “They don’t want to become like us, as so many naive people think,” he said. “What they want to do is make us like them, and open the door to all kinds of sexual chaos. It would produce absolute cultural chaos in this country.”
That chaos is already manifesting itself. Witness the following examples drawn from recent news reports:
The new ideology of “gender fluidity” takes direct aim at the biblical understanding of the image of God in man: “So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them” (Genesis 1:27).
When the Apostle Paul wrote to the Galatians that for those who have put on Christ “[T]here is neither male nor female: for you are all one in Christ Jesus,” he was not speaking of gender-bending. For as he described in his letter to the Ephesians, there is a clear distinction of roles in marriage, which only a male and a female can each fulfill. In marriage the husband is to model the role of Christ as head of the church, and the wife is to model the role of the bride of Christ—the church. These roles are not interchangeable, sexless roles. The biologically founded and spiritually consummated bond between the man and woman in marriage portrays the very core of the beautiful intimacy that Christ desires with His Church.
As schools do away with the basic biological distinction between male and female and teach gender fluidity, they are falling prey to the manipulation of homosexuals who are making children the pawns of their own debased delusions. Those who support them, and those—including Christians—who refuse to stand against their efforts, are equally culpable (Romans 1:32).
The Supreme Court’s recent decision is not “the end of the conversation” on this issue. As long as there are those who “do not like to retain God in their knowledge” (Romans 1:28), the Church of Jesus Christ has the duty to proclaim the truth of God’s word on this subject with clarity, boldness, and courage.
As Dr. Kennedy said, “[If the homosexual activists have their way,] mother and father, husband and wife would be old-fashioned things within a generation. This nation would be unrecognizable. Marriage is vitally important. It was obviously felt to be so by God, who made it the first institution that He created, and that with His own hands. We need in our day to defend it as best that we can.”
