When you wish upon a star your dreams come true.” So sang Jiminy Cricket to a wooden puppet named Pinocchio who yearned to become a real boy.
Stars hold an important place in our imaginations. Literature and music are replete with references to them—many of which seem to speak in some way to our destiny. Perhaps this is because of a perception that significant events sometimes are associated with celestial phenomena. The Scriptures tell us that God has numbered the stars and has a name for each one.
But of all the stars in the heavens, there is not one with greater import than the Star of Bethlehem. Dr. D. James Kennedy illumiates how this star was both a sign and the seal of a great promise—that God Himself would come and redeem His people in his Christmas message, “Following the Star.”
