What is the greatest miracle in all of human history? Some might say that is a matter of opinion. But with even the briefest of reflection we can see that one miracle stands apart from all others. It is the miracle of the Incarnation, where God who created the entire universe, and was Himself separate from it, decided, for His glory and for our good to become part of it. He chose to be born as a helpless babe, the child of a very young Jewish maiden. As the prophet tells it: For unto us a child is born and unto us a Son is given. And His name shall be called Wonderful, Counselor, the Mighty God, the Everlasting Father, the Prince of Peace. That is the greatest miracle in all of human history, a miracle so unexpected, so astonishing that it begs a profound question: Why did He do it?
